The tree’s red, blood-like sap is rich in protective antioxidant polyphenols and anti-inflammatory compounds. These compounds help to protect the DNA cells of the skin exposed to the sun while reducing, swelling and pain. It also contains a group of compounds called proanthocyanidins that repair collagen and taspine, a known tissue-healing agent. Traditional usage

Indigenous tribes throughout Peru and Ecuador use Dragon’s Blood internally for stomach ulcers and intestinal issues such as “traveler’s diarrhea.” Externally it is the king of all herbs to use on external wounds. It will stop bleeding and help wounds to heal much faster, up to five times faster than usual. Use it on cuts, bites, burns, stings, warts, rashes, abrasions, sores, and wounds for other skin issues. Even over exposure to the sun it can be applied to the skin for healing.
